Moving On

Spring is here and as the weather gets better I love being outside, taking walks and soon working in my yard.  This makes time a premium to spend in my sewing room.  The One Block Wonder quilt top is complete, I have decided to call it Flower Box.  I thought with the fabrics I used, and spring here, it is a fitting name.image

I think it will be a while before I get to quilting it, but it was a joy to piece.  I see more in this style in my future, and I usually don’t like to repeat a pattern I have sewn.  This one never gets boring.

I continue to work on quilting the huge bright quilt that I have been working on.  I usually get an hour or so working on that each day.  I never used to like machine quilting, but as I get better at it, and spread my wings trying new things, I find it is actually relaxing and fun.  I don’t even think it will take as long as I originally thought it would.

I put a quilt up on the design wall I started years ago.  I enjoy hand work and all these blocks are needle turn appliquéd.  The pattern is from the book Quilting the Garden by Barb Adams, Alma Allen and Ricki Creamer.  All I have left to do is sash the blocks with half square triangles and put the borders on.  image

For now, I am enjoying just looking at it on my design wall.  I would like to say it will be finished soon, but that probably will not happen.  I will be a bit preoccupied with company.  My daughter and grandkids are coming to stay for a few weeks while her husband is away.  I can’t wait to see them as they live far away.  My grand daughter is anxious to play with grandma’s stash.  She has made a wall quilt already and is quite talented.  So I will have a companion in my sewing room and I can’t wait!
