Can you believe it is already just about the 4th of July? The summer seems to speed by so rapidly. I’d like to slow down time right now as I thoroughly enjoy the summer.
This first quilt I made for my son many years ago. He requested a patriotic quilt and really loved all the flags. Yesterday I came into the living room to find it displayed on the back of the couch as he wanted to decorate for the 4th.
This next quilt was made during a trip to the international quilt show in Rosemont, IL a few years back. I attended this show with a few friends every year. We always brought our machines and would pick out a project to work on during the evenings in our hotel room. This was the project I chose and the top was finished before we went home. Of course, like many of my projects it is still just a top waiting to be quilted.
This last quilt was the result of a strip swap I participated in at my local quilt shop. I love swaps among friends. As you look at the finished quilt, different fabrics remind you of your friends, all while giving you a lot of variety.
While it is not patriotic, it is certainly a quilt that celebrates summer.
I may not take as much time to quilt during the summer, but I still love being surrounded by my summer quilts. I may just grab one of the finished quilts to wrap up in out by the campfire tonight as we start our 4th of July celebrations.
