Have you ever wanted something so much you dream about it, think about it during the day, and pretty much obsess about it? That pretty much describes me and my dreams of a new sewing machine. For the past 2 1/2 years I have been saving and dreaming of this new machine. I got a flier and would look at it, I even visited it at the store. Well, last week she came home. I am so totally thrilled. Let me introduce her to you. She is an Elna Excellence 780 and she is simply awesome.
The picture just doesn’t do her justice. I purchased her at a shop in Racine, Wisconsin called Sew N Save. It is a wonderful shop, having machines on one side and a delightful quilt shop on the other. The owner Jim seems to know most everyone by name and he really knows his machines. He sells and services both Janine and Elna machines and was great to work with. I’ll be taking a class on getting the most out of my machine soon and I can’t wait. So now I need to start spending lots of time with this new machine I affectionately named Sassy. Let the fun begin!
Ya see, my girl.. she paints and she is creative. She has never really had the desire to sew much of anything… until now!
And then.. she decided to make some new pillows for her couch. So, off we went to the fabric store where we found some great prices for batiks…
My daughter then joined a group of quilters and sewers on Saturday where she got busy sewing on the pillows.
All of this does a mother’s heart good! It was great to see the spark and interest in sewing come alive when she made great accomplishments.
And in between helping with pillows, I was working on my layout for a scrap quilt. I have started to assemble the rows, and am adding a dark blue sashing in between. At some point, this quilt will be on my docket for the UFO Challenge I am in. As it is furthest from being completed, I need to get cracking!
As of now, this quilt (shown only at the beginning stage here) needs to make it’s way to the longarm… this month!!
Till next time!
I just glanced at when a fresh post hit this site! March 30! Lots of quilting and living in the weeks past! So, I will post some pictures and catch up from where I left off.
I headed to California to meet the cute wee one. She is content and beautiful!
So, I had kind of left off here;
And from there I had added the applique I had drawn out. A bit of fantasy with a hot air balloon and an elephant on the colorful background.
This grandma got a bit carried away with the size of the quilt!! Finding the baby girl is like playing “where’s Waldo”! As her dad said, this way it will last longer, she can grow into it.
I did however also have another quilt I had started. I didn’t really have a next step in mind for it. It was a great place to stop! It was done. It made a very bright and colorful baby quilt. It is also much smaller in size!
Nothing better than a baby snuggled up!
