Details:
Quite awhile back Luanne and I decided to do our own “Round Robin” or Collaboration Quilt.
How did we start?
We were at a Quilt Show and each of us picked out a Fat Quarter as the basis for the quilt. Then swapped.
Rules?
Not really! No set block sizes, techniques or anything like that. Both will finish out at roughly a throw size.
We also try to keep a journal of what we have created and when, and our thoughts on the journey.
Luanne created my first block and I created hers. To start off, we each shopped in our own stashes to coordinate fabrics with the first Fat Quarter, and created a block. Then when we see each other, we try to have a block or so done and we pass these back and forth to each other. Over time, we have both added fabrics to the bins we pass back and forth. On occasion we have gotten together to work on these blocks.
This concept has stretched both of us in our skills, comfort zones, and fabric choices.
4/15/2016 Update!!
We are both in the homestretch on these quilts! Luanne has hers quilted and is finishing up the binding, and mine is on the longarm with a couple more blocks to do!
