For those that Inspire us…

thank you!

We all have those who have gone before us, paved the way, and in some way manage to inspire us and educate us on our creative path. For so many and for so long, this person has been Nancy Zieman. While the set of Wisconsin Public Television’s show “Sewing With Nancy” has gone quiet and dark, this amazing woman’s legacy lives on! Her body of work will be seen over and over again on television and the internet. Her books, dvds and patterns grace many bookshelves. Not only did she show us how to “make things”, she was a role model for so many in the industry. I had never met her, but would have liked to. We were neighbors. Well, almost. We lived in the same county in Wisconsin. I don’t generally have celebrity awestruck moments, but I would think that Nancy would have been one of those people. If I had run into her at the grocery, I can pretty much tell you that I would have been tongue tied. People of character who are successful and giving are the role models I look up to.

Thanks for sharing your passion Nancy!

Dear Nancy, Thanks for the Catalog! And more.

Not too long ago, this happened to my Nancy’s Notions Catalog. And now this beauty came in the mail for me:

I have not had the chance to peruse it yet, but rest assured, it is not left on the kitchen island for my doggies to get into!  The cover does lure you in with all those great colors, doesn’t it? Thanks Nancy!

Dabbling with making a dress for myself. I have not done this kind of thing for years. Not something that will need to be fitted. Slippery slope! It has to fit! And so I have been watching YouTube videos on making a muslin, measuring and altering… even toying with the idea of purchasing a dress form. However, that could make for one expensive dress if I add that into the cost!

Sometimes the map has to change… we have all experienced it. We have things mapped out. We have a plan! And by God that plan will work! OR NOT! And so our map has to change. Just like Luanne’s post the other day about how her machine was no longer working, and needed to go in for repair. But, she was quilting away… finishing a project instead of starting another new one!! Thud! Sometimes, we have no choice but to keep on the path, especially if there were a deadline involved. But, sometimes, a new opportunity presents itself… Plan B or C, or D and so on.

Here is a cute printable I came across. Thinking it needs to be printed, framed, and on a wall in my sewing room!

Plan a

Moving on! Enjoy the day!

Dear Nancy, Please send another Catalog!

Dear Nancy, Please send another Catalog!

My Nancy’s Notions Catalog was a bit too close to the edge of the counter.  Do they have something against Nancy Zieman? Not likely.  Do they resent the time I spend quilting?  Perhaps.  Imagine the fun they had.  If only I would have had this on video.

And who are the culprits?

Meet Maxwell. .. He is a counter cruiser , and the one most likely to have removed the catalog from the counter.  He may be low to the ground but has a very long body and can reach half way onto the counter tops.

And Stella. … aka the super shredder!
Dare ya to drop a napkin around her! She can have it  shredded before you can bend over to get it!
Guess there will be new notions for me this month!
